HOME

Located in the heart of Raethian Alps, in Valmalenco (Province of Sondrio, Italy), the Rifugio Ventina with his rooms and restaurant offers the perfect place to enjoy panoramic views of incredible beauty and to taste the typical dishes from Valtellina.

The refuge is reached with a hour of walked from Chiareggio, but you can also reach it with 6 hours of walked from Switzerland (Muretto Pass and Forno Pass) or from Val Masino ( trough Rifugio Ponti) and Val di Mello (Sentiero Roma).

The Valmalenco is famous for the "ALTA VIA" (“High Way of Valmalenco”), one of the most beautiful high altitude excursion routes in the Alps, that extends for over 110 km and 15 refuges. The Alta Via is completed in 8 days: our refuge is the point of arrival of the second day, with departure from the Rifugio Bosio, and the departure of the third day with arrival to Chiareggio.

The refuge is a ideal point of departure for various walks and excursions or for ascensions on the tops of the group of Disgrazia (Mount Cassandra, Mount Kennedy, Mount Disgrazia): a series of alpine itineraries wind in the middle of these mountains with our hospitable refuge able to satisfy any need of unforgettable walks in uncontaminated areas surrounded by forests and impressive glaciers. There lovers will find the ideal surroundings for the most beautiful excursions.

There, at a high altitude, charming tracks for mountain bike wind while climbers will find many natural rock-faces for climbing with extremely heterogeneous degrees which allow experts and inexperts to find the most suitable wall. Land of woods, summer alpine pastures but especially of rare and different minerals and stones like serpentine used to cover roofs or “pietra ollare” to make pans (named “lavecc”) which are worldwide appreciated for cooking in the most salutary way.

The  Ventina glacier is also one of the best area for ski touring on springtime. You can also reach by ski touring our refuge from Switzerland hiking the Muretto Pass.

The refuge is open only during the summer, from June to September, and during the week-end on April-May and October.

We have a total of ten rooms: three rooms with 2 places bed, three rooms with 4 places bed, two rooms with 6 places bed and two rooms with 8 places bed. In every bed there are sheets. We also have a shower with hot water and 4 baths in common.
